We are once again, very happy, to announce the sixth Sea Kayak Training Camp under the guidance of an experienced sea kayaker, Dimitri Vandepoele, the founder of the Northseakayak kayak team from Belgium.
The training camp is intended for all kayak enthusiasts who want to deepen their knowledge and their skills.
The camp will be held in May 2024.:
06.05. – 10.05.2024.
09:00-12:00 First acquaintance, Basics of sea kayaking
13:00-17:00 Basics of sea kayaking (forward paddling, correct use of your paddle, basic steering, the difference between edging and leaning a sea kayak)
09:00-12:00 Theory about rescue and self-rescues
13:00-17:00 Practice rescue and self-rescue, balance exercises (in a safe environment)
09:00-12:00 Theory “boat-control’
13:00-17:00 Practice on boat control, this includes all possible paddling strokes for steering, support, and maneuvering (in a safe environment)
09:00-12:00 Theory “leading a group & incident management”
13:00-17:00 Practice in open water on different scenarios (with rescues, towing,….)
10:00-17:00 Practice in open water on all of the learned techniques from the previous days (with scenarios)
List of recommended equipment:
• A good sea kayak
• Personal floating device
• A good paddle (important as you will use it the whole day)
• A spare paddle (placed on the kayak), (a two-piece paddle is ideal)
• A paddle float (behind the seat if there’s a place)
• A pump (behind the seat if there’s a place)
• A tow line
• Good clothing (neoprene Long John with a neoprene sweater/top is ideal + neoprene footwear; recommended thickness is around 3 to 4 mm)
• At least one waterproof bag per kayak (for dry clothes or other personal stuff)
We suggest that you plan your trip in a way that you come one or two days before the camp and leave one or two days afterward.
